Richmond Council is running a series of evening consultation workshops through September, giving residents, businesses and community groups the chance to influence a new borough-wide Lighting Strategy covering town centres, parks and public spaces.
The sessions will explore how street and public lighting can be improved with safety, wellbeing, sustainability and environmental impact in mind. For Barnes residents, the most convenient option is likely the Richmond Town Centre workshop on Wednesday 10 September 2026, held at Richmond Library, Little Green, Richmond TW9 1QL, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Other workshops cover Heath Road/Twickenham (Monday 7 September, Patch Twickenham, 42 York Street), Teddington High Street (Tuesday 8 September, Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road), Whitton (Thursday 10 September, Whitton Library, 141 Nelson Road) and Hampton Hill (Monday 28 September, Hampton Hill Theatre). Each runs 7:00 pm–9:00 pm.
Registration links for each venue are provided on the Richmond Council news page. Places are likely to be limited, so booking in advance is recommended.
