Three free hands-on science workshops for children aged four and above are coming to Twickenham Civic Centre this October — useful to know if you have younger children and are looking for half-term or weekend activities.
The sessions, run by Science Owl, take place on 7 October, 10 October and 16 October at the Civic Centre, 44 York Street, Twickenham, TW1 3BZ. Each workshop begins with a shared picture book, then moves into practical invention: children design, build and test their own creation in response to a real-world environmental challenge inspired by the story. Scientists and engineers from the Science Owl team are on hand to help throughout.
The format is designed to blend literacy with scientific thinking — accessible for young children while still giving older ones something to get their teeth into. Places are limited and booking is essential, so families are encouraged not to leave it too late.
The sessions are free of charge. Full booking details and any updates are available on the Richmond Council website. While the venue is in Twickenham rather than Barnes, it is a short drive or bus ride away and the free-of-charge format makes it worth the trip.
